POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAM
LIST OF PROJECTS EARMARKED FOR FUNDING

PROJECT FUNDING NUMBER ONE

Project Title - WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
Activities:
The women Empowerment program is intended to alleviate the suffering of rural women through the administration of granting interest free loan of about N50,000 (.00) each to women to kick start or enhance an already existing projects, such as Gari farming, Soap making, Maize farming, establishment of provision Stores, Selling of Clothes and operation of Hair dressing Saloon etc. About 40,000 women are earmarked for the grant in 30 villages across the nation. Our target is to reach 100 women every quarter, but due financial constraints about 20 women has so far benefited from this project.
(b) FAMILY PLANNING CAMPAIGN PROGRAMS
The program activities are done through Seminars, Conferences, Handbills,
and Radio/Television programs. The television programs are anchored by
leading women of the society to enlighten other women on the issue of
Birth rate control, prevention of AIDS, Malaria, and other
infectious diseases in the rural areas etc.
The estimated cost for sponsoring this program is
N500,000 (,000) yearly.

PROJECT FUNDING NUMBER TWO
Program Title
HEALTH CARE DELIVERY
Our Health Programs are aimed at giving Social amenities to rural areas as follows:-
(I.e. construction of Water Bole Holes for rural areas where there are scarcity of water supply and building of toilets facilities for Primary /Secondary Schools. About 30 villages has been earmarked to be given bole hole, while 40 schools has been slated for toilet facilities nationwide. An estimated amount of about N400,000 (,200) is needed to execute one bole hole in a community, while, N200, 000 ($1,600) is needed to fund building of male/female toilet facility in one school.

. Project Title: EDUCATIONAL & SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

(A) SKILL ACQUISITION PROGRAMS

Activities: The Skill acquisition programs are intended to provide free scholarship training for the underprivileged in the society to make them self reliant. The program would concentrate on the following areas: viz.
(a) Computer
(b) Shoemaking
(c) Hairdressing
(d) Tailoring
(e) Carpentry
.
The Skill acquisition center would be located in three villages. Each of the center would be built in form of 12 classrooms block, 3 offices, 2 stores, 3 toilets facilities, 1 large hall and a hostel accommodation etc. The items needed to operate each center are;- Computers, benches/desk, carpentry machines/tools, hairdressing machines/tools, Tailoring machines, and resource persons. etc An estimated N5,000,000.(,000) is needed to build and run a center with a free scholarship admission for 200 candidates for three years.
Project Beneficiaries - Underprivileged youths boys and girls between 12-35 years.


(b) Distribution of Notebooks to both Primary and Secondary Schools
This educational project are aimed at helping the underprivileged children boys and girls acquire their education. This is an on-going project which was started in year 2002 Titled: TRAIN THE NIGERIAN CHILD. About 500, 000 students are earmarked to be given 80 leaves notebooks each in about 100 Schools across the nation. Our target is to reach 2500 students every quarter, but due to financial constraints, about 300 students has so far benefited from this project in 6 villages. An estimated N250,000. (,000).

Project Title: COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION:
Activities: This program would be done through Seminar/workshop/Television campaign programs aimed at dissuading people from bush burning, and encouraging the citizenry on general aforestation in our depleted forest reserve and desert encroachment areas. This Program would feature an enlightened audience discussants on many issues of environmental protection ranging from environmental cleanliness, planting of trees and flowers in our environments etc.
An estimated N625,000 (,000) is needed to fund this program yearly.


OPERATING GRANT:
Social Justice & Grassroots Development is seeking for funds to take care of its office operations to be used for day to day running of the Secretariat as follows:-
(a) Postages
(b) Purchase 5 computers
(c) Entertainments/Honorarium
(d) Government Levy
(e) Accommodation for office and guest
(f) Printing of Newsletters
(g) Miscellaneous Expenses
An estimated N500,000 (,000) is needed to offset the above items for three years.
Generous funding to execute these worthy course will be thankfully appreciated.
